Senior Athlete Spotlight: Kelsie Macintosh

What sport/ position do you play?

I am on the North Penn girls basketball team as a shooting guard.

How many years have you played?

I have been a part of the NP sport for 4 years and I have been playing basketball since I was 8.

What’s your favorite memory?

My favorite memory with this team is the long bus rides where we would sing at the top of our lungs after a hard-fought win.

How did you impact the team?

Being the only senior this year, I think I impacted the team as a support system. I was always there for the younger girls to rely on me and I think a lot of times I was chosen as a role model on and off the court.

How have you grown as a player throughout the years?

Throughout my years on this team, I think I grew as a player mostly by learning to adapt to anything thrown my way. A lot of things changed over the 4 years and I definitely had to grow and change with it.

How did being an athlete positively affect your high school experience?

Becoming an athlete is one of the best things that you can do at NPHS. It gave me instant connections and friendships that I never would’ve had without being a student-athlete. It teaches you how to balance school work and a sport and was really beneficial for my time management. Being an athlete made some of the typical stresses of high school much easier.
