8 North Penn athletes sign National Letters of Intent
Towamencin – Eight North Penn seniors were recognized on Thursday morning as they officially signed letters of intents to compete athletically at the collegiate level. North Penn Athletic Director Bill Bartle spoke to the athletes and their families, giving testimony as to what an accomplishment this is.
“This is what North Penn athletics is all about,” Bartle said. “Year in and year out we have multiple athletes be able to go and play at the next level. It’s very exciting to see.”
A range of sports was recognized as athletes from Water polo, Track and field, and football got the chance to fully commit to their respective colleges. Coach Brandon Turner, who had 4 of his track and field girls sign a letter of intent, talked about his pleasure in coaching the girls and how they’ve impacted his program.
“It really was an honor to coach all of these girls,” Turner said. “They have done so much for the program here.”
Senior runner Jayme Corrado recounted her favorite moments from her high school career while getting a little emotional in the process.
“Probably riding back home on the bus with my teammates,” Corrado said. “We always had fun on the ride back and celebrating.”
Coach Dick Beck talked about how senior Michael Darcy was one of the program’s hardest workers the program has seen.
“It was just non-stop for this guy,” Beck said. “Every time I saw him he was just running routes, doing drills, catching, and just working to get better.”
Every athlete celebrated today has worked extremely hard to get to the position they are in. Congrats to all the athletes that were able to be recognized today for their hard work and dedication.
