Houlihan named All-American
TOWAMENCIN- 2019 has been a year full of recognition and accolades for senior Carter Houlihan. He won the McGuire Cup this summer for his club team, won a district title with the Knights, and scored both goals to lead the Knights to a state championship. The list got a little bigger this past week for Houlihan.
Houlihan was named male player of the year for the state of Pennsylvania along with being named to the 2019 USC All Region II (East) Male Team.
“It feels amazing, going into the season I was only worried about winning states and team success but being recognized for individual success feels great too,” Houlihan said.
One day later at the end of the year soccer banquet, Head Coach Paul Duddy, who was named the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association AAAA Male Coach of the Year, announced that Houlihan was named a national All-American soccer player.
“I never really thought I would have a chance to be named an All-American. But once again it’s a great feeling. I’m thankful for my coaches and my teammates for putting me in positions to succeed this year,” Houlihan said.
It’s been quite the year on the field for Houlihan but now he’ll try to find some similar success on the court as he joins the Knights basketball program. The basketball team starts their season Friday at Hershey, PA, Houlihan’s first trip to Hershey since the state final, as the Knights will participate in a tournament.
