Knights Dominate Cheltenham
TOWAMENCIN – Chemistry and teamwork seemed to be the number one factors for the North Penn Boy’s Volleyball team in their victory against Cheltenham 3-0 (20-12, 22-11, 25-17) on Wednesday night.
The Knights set the tone of the first match through their precision and accuracy. Outside hitter Michael Wang bumped the Knights up to 20 points by not failing to miss a single serve. This streak continued throughout the three matches the Knights played against Cheltenham.
After a powerful start, Cheltenham came into match two mimicking the energy of the Knights. Despite middle hitter Manav Patel’s precise serves, the Knights began to lose their energy against Cheltenham after miscommunication on the court.
“Communication, we need to work on the most. The chemistry’s there but we need to work on moving our mouths a little more,” commented opposite hitter Luke Yoder.
While the Knights managed to pull it together at the end of match two, they started off match three with the same frustration of lacking communication. Cheltenham took the lead against the Knights briefly after missed serves, but quickly fell behind after many blocks by setter Ryan Stewart. The Knights and their fan base went wild after outside hitter Matt Franco scored the winning point of the night.
“I felt confident, had some good energy, positive vibes. That was my varsity debut so I was pretty happy,” shared Franco.
The Knights return home for their next match against La Salle College Saturday, April 14th at 11:30 am.
