TOWAMENCIN – Balancing two sports and trying to make an impact in both sports, senior Dan Drop is worthy of much more praise than he may be given. His work ethic and determination pay off, when he is able to say his catchphrase “see ya ball!”. Whether he’s punting the ball as far as he can for the other team to receive, or he’s hitting a homerun, when he’s able to say that catchphrase it’s always with a smile on his face.

With the Knights doing so well in playoffs, Drop is excited for tonight’s game against Coatesville. Coatesville is a fast team with a good running Back so the goal is to slow them down.

“My job is to keep the quarterback in the pocket, and not let him scramble around me. Owen Thomas and I really just have to focus on the quarterback. I also have to cover the running back and do my job, as does everyone else on defense,” said Drop.

As a whole, this season is a dream come true for Drop. He’s been playing football since about 1st grade and for him it is not just about the game, but the family that comes with it. Owen Thomas, Anthony Andrews, Matt Bevan, Jake Hubler, Andrew Roth, Joey Beck, and Joey Slover have all been his teammates on the Lansdale Cannoneers since he started playing.

“I never would have guessed I’d be playing with Reece Udinski because back in the day when I played for the Cannoneers, he played for Lenape Valley. Lenape Valley was an arch rival of ours, so when he came over to North Penn it was pretty cool to be able to play with him,” said Drop.

Udinski, Hubler and all the other seniors mean a lot to Drop. He will truly miss all his friends and Coach Beck next year.

Having such a successful year is even better for Drop because his whole family comes out to support him at every game. His dad played the same position as him for Lansdale Catholic, so him being at every game means a lot to him because he strives to be just like him.

Drop’s positive attitude is not just on the football field, but is carried over to the baseball field also. He has a fantastic work ethic for both sports trying to be the best he can be on both fields.

“When we are in the offseason for football I was playing baseball, but I was also weightlifting almost every day to get stronger, better, and faster for both sports. Work ethic proves well during the season because what I do during offseason is just as important as when I’m in season.” said Drop.

Drop juggles playing the two sports, and brings his hard work and optimism to both teams. His coaches really help him do this, taking into consideration that he is a multi-sport athlete. Drop aims to play football in college, so he has put all his passion and determination into football this year, but it would be impossible for him to overlook baseball once the seasons change.
