HATFIELD – The Pennridge Rams scored early but not often enough as the North Penn Knights came alive in the second period with senior Alex Peterson scoring a hat trick and leading the way to strong night on the ice for the Knights.

Although playing at their home rink, the Knights Ice Hockey team was the away team against Pennridge Wednesday night at Hatfield Ice, where they secured a 7-3 win and improved their record to 6-0-1. Senior Alex Peterson and juniors Spencer Silver and Nathan Oh were the Knight’s leading scorers with Peterson scoring three goals and Silver and Oh each scoring twice.

The first period got off to a rapid start when Pennridge lit up the score board to grasp a quick 1-0 lead. The Knights, however, swiftly responded when Silver scored his first goal of the night with help from Peterson. This help made a figure eight when Peterson scored under a power play and received a full rink pass assist by senior goalie, Jake Snyder.

“We were able to create a lot of offense and limit the amount of scoring chances our opponent had,” stated Snyder. “We warmed up and stretched as a team [and] also discussed strategy and motivation to win the game. We wanted to outwork the other team and take advantage of our explosive offense.”

By the second period, the Knights were thawed out and skated past their opponents, scoring a whopping four goals back to back to back to back. After being down for a few minutes following a rough check against the wall, Peterson came up fighting and scored the next two goals for the Knights immediately afterwards. He then made two assists to Silver and Oh, who each scored making the score 6-2.

Scoring slowed down in the third period with Oh scoring the seventh point with assists by Peterson and Silver, making the final score 7-3.

Although Pennridge was the first to score in each period, Snyder made sure to prevent the Rams from scoring throughout. Making numerous saves and only allowing three goals past him, Snyder says thathe feels “confident that [he] will make the saves [he] needs to make to give [the] team a chance to win.”
“Our defense will help me out by limiting the other team’s chances to score,” he added.

The Knights are back on the ice Thursday evening at Wintersport as they take on the Abington Ghosts.
