North Penn stomps C.B. West 6-1
October 8, 2014
TOWAMENCIN- From the opening whistle North Penn was able to control the play and make C.B. West chased the ball all over the field. The Knight’s ball control quickly wore down the Bucks and led to an unexpected lopsided 6-1 win for the Knights Tuesday night.
The Knights were able to score early after a goal from Liam Parker in the 11th minute. They were then able to expand their lead to 3-0 by halftime after goals from Nick Miller and Mike Kohler.
The quick start was important for the Knights.
“It’s always nice to score early but there are going to be games when that doesn’t happen so we have got to score goals throughout the game” stated senior captain Brad Deckel.
North Penn was able to score three times in the first 16 minutes, highlighted by a brilliant shot outside the box from Scott Kohler. At that point the game was essentially put to bed.
A big factor in the outcome of the game was North Penn’s ability to keep the ball away from C.B. West. The Knights continually held possession and made crisp, accurate passes to each other. Part of the reason for this was a new strategy they employed.
“We tried something new. We did a diamond in the middle with Owen holding, Nick and I holding on left and right center mid, and Kevin was in the front of that diamond with two forwards on top. We were just trying to move the ball on them and spread them out,” Deckel went on to say.
The win improves North Penn’s record to 10-3 on the season. The Knights will look to keep the victories coming in their next game against Pennridge on Thursday night.
