As the gymanusium roared from the loud cheers of the adoring fans, the North Penn Knights sent off their seniors with a huge 62-55 victory over conferernce rivals Hataboro Horsham.
“We shot the ball well, we had very nice ball movement. We know right now that our backs are against the wall and we have to stick together. It was a huge game knowing that it was senior night as well as it being the biggest crowd we have had all year,” said captain Aaron Dean.
The contest was a continuous back and forth battle in the trenches between the two teams as they remained in a constant stalemate ending the first quarter 11-11. As the second quarter began the Knight’s defense could not keep up with the intensity of the Hatters offense and fell 30-22.
“It’s a big big game, we lose we go home, we have to win every single game. Right now we are basically playing every game like it was our last . He did a very good job at hitting shots and hustling up and down the court the hustle tonight was huge,” commented senior Brian Coleman.
In the second half, the Knights offense began to cut the lead with a dominant attack lead by senior Brian Coleman as the third quarter ended with the Hatters up 43-41. As the fourth quarter progressed North Penn began to operate on all four cylinders and despite a valiant effort by the Hatboro defense, North Penn would pull away with the 62-55 victory.
“Defensively we played very well in the second half, the first half we were a little bit sluggish and not really in rhythm, but in the second half we did very well. Heading in the game we really talked about playing hard and playing together as a team. I thought we did a lot of unselfish playing in the second half. It doesn’t get any easier from here we have methacton, CB West, and Pennridge next week and they are all really good teams with good coaches so we will come in tomorrow morning and go right to work,” commented head coach John Conrad.
North Penn honored senors Kris Akins, Brian Coleman, Aaron Dean, Suleyman Hakim, Jason Jones, Chris Kersey, Jin Lim, Noah Melchior, and Kevin Shue as they continue to battle for a spot in the district playoffs.
