As the gym filled with waves of avid fans all dressed in pink, North Penn’s annual Dig Pink night to raise funds for breast cancer research commenced. The Maidens of North Penn fell short of victory with a loss to the Warriors of Methacton.
“I think we actually played pretty well up until the 4th game. It seems like we lost our fire, we stopped hitting, we stopped serving, and pretty much everything fell apart. However, up until that point things were going really well. Our offense was executing very well in the first half,” said head coach Bryan Yost.
With the Maidens defense dominating the first game, North Penn was able to secure a 25-21 victory over the warriors. Methacton answered back winning the following game 25-20. As the third game began, the Maidens offense caught a surge of electricity that would carry them in a game three 25-18 triumph over the warriors. With a game four loss on the line, the Methacton offense went into overdrive winning the fourth game 25-14. As the momentum shifted the Warriors hauled in a game five 15-12 final victory over the Maidens; Methacton 3 North Penn 2.
“We need to start playing smarter and know where the sports are on the court to hit. We must work on knowing when to swing, when to set, as well as adjusting to the set,” said senior captain Lindsey Hendrazak.
“Our offensive transitions, our footwork coming off the net, our setter getting lined up, but during this week working on our offensive transitions is a main focus. But they have been fighting and only getting stronger. Especially at a time where we are not making playoffs and they could be falling apart they are just getting stronger,” said Yost.
The maidens look to continue conference play against Quakertown. Although playoffs are out of question, North Penn continues to seek a strong finish.
