TOWAMENCIN- As a storm approached, the North Penn Girls’ Soccer team’s attempt at a late comeback against the Central Bucks South Lady Titans fell short under quickly darkening skies. After a fast paced and aggressive game, the Maidens fell behind the Lady Titans and ended the game early in a 2-1 loss.
Both teams came out strong, and Central Bucks South put the pressure on North Penn right from the start. The Maidens quickly matched CB South’s pace and were able to put the ball in the net early in the first half as Tina Miller got the Maidens on the board.
Right away the Lady Titans increased their momentum and were able to sneak in a goal on a free kick soon after Miller’s goal, knotting the score at 1-1.
With time running out in the second half, CB South put themselves on top with another goal. North Penn’s freshman goalkeeper Hannah Lambert had a strong performance in the net, for the Maidens’ racking up 15 saves. But with less than five minutes left in the game, the threat of a storm forced referees to call the game, ending the Maidens’ attempts to send it into overtime.
Although the result was not what the team wanted, senior captain Gabby Didomizio looked on the bright side.
“We’re strong- both physically and mentally,” she remarked, saying that they came out stronger in the beginning and are working better as a team.
She believes that they are confident in their abilities, even though they are a relatively young team.
Hoping to improve their 0-2-1 record, the Maidens travel to Central Bucks East on Monday.
