TOWAMENCIN – Up against a very good CB East team, the North Penn Maidens volleyball team knew that nothing but their best play would earn them a victory.
“We played good ball all the way through. We were just up against a good team, and they outplayed us” said head coach Kevin Eck after the game. “We just need to work on getting the whole team all on the same page all the way through a match. If we can get that kind of consistency down, we’ll be playing some really good ball.”
Dropping the first set, 25 to 19 and the second set, 25 to 18, North Penn had still had a chance to pull out a win. However, after an ephemeral rally that brought them back within two points of the Patriots, the Maidens dropped the third and final set 25 to 22.
Team captain, Hannah Simon believes that it is important to make sure the team keeps their head up all the way through the game.
“I don’t think anything went wrong. I just think that when we got into some messy play, we let them get on a couple runs and we put our heads down.” In practice, she said, they will work on keeping their chin up throughout the game.
After the loss, Maiden, Rachel Allen had some optimistic news.
“We have a lot of people that we brought up from Junior Varsity last year, and they just continue to improve. Hopefully our team as a whole will continue to improve and we’ll make it to playoffs.” However, she felt that ball control was their biggest issue tonight, and they’ll be sure to attend to it during practice in preparation for their next game against Quakertown next Tuesday.
