After months of hard work and dedication the North Penn Boys Track & Field team ended their season with a trip to the Pennsylvania State Championship. North Penn sent 12 boys to states as well as finishing 24th overall out of the 234 teams that competed at the championship.
“I thought we had a very successful season, it was a great group of kids who worked hard and it showed at states. My hopes for the spring season are more of the same as winter- work hard, get better every day and have a little fun,” said head coach Jaimey Jones.
Brad Deckel (sophomore) pole vaulted 13’ at states, Vince Espositio (senior) pole vaulted 14’ as well as ran on the 4×400 that took 7th place overall. Dan Boardman (senior) High Jumped 6’4” placed 8th overall. Jack Macauley (senior) ran the 3000 in 8:53.06 placed 11th, 4×800 took 6th, qualified in the mile but did not compete. Joe LeConey (Junior) and Ryan Grace (junior) 4×800 took 6th. Riley Gaibler (senior) 4×800 took 6th, 4×400 that took 7th. Chris Jefferies (freshman) 4×200 did not place, alternate for 4×400, James DeSimone 4×200 did not place, and 4×400 that took 7th. Jared Alston (Senior) competed in the 60m High Hurdles, Triple Jump, qualified in High Jump but did not compete, was alternate for 4×200 and 4×400. Eric Rothenberger (Junior) 4×200 did not place, 4×400 that took 7th.
“It was a great season, senior year, to get to states come 7th place overall it feels awesome. I never thought that I would get there but after four years of being with this program it feels nice to have made it,” said senior James DeSimone.
The Knights wrapped up a successful winter season as they now prepare for outdoor Track & Field this spring.
