TOWAMENCIN- While there were a few bright spots on Friday’s basketball matchup against Souderton, the night was ultimately a struggle as Souderton cruised past the Knight’s on the hardwood, 62-44.
The Knights (now 2-5 in the Continental Conference) kept it close for most of the first half, but blew up once the second half began. Souderton held a lead as high as 20, which North Penn just could not diminish.
“We wore down in the second half,” said head coach John Conrad. “They also did a nice job picking up their intensity.”
“Our offense was bad in the second half,” said guard Wes Brooks. “We need to limit turnovers and score more points.”
While it was a rough night for North Penn, one bright spot on the team came from Brooks, who at one point seemed to make every shot he took.
“My shots were going,” said Brooks, “That was not the case in the beginning, but it’s a huge confidence booster when I make my shots.”
Throughout the game, especially early on, Brooks was dribbling past several defenders and draining NBA range 3-pointers. Although Brooks did cool down towards the end of the game, Souderton could not find an answer to stop him.
Perhaps a big factor that contributed to Souderton’s big win was the fact that it was more of a home-court advantage for them than it was the Knights.
With a struggling team, the Knight’s faithful have been dwindling and it showed on Friday when Souderton clearly had more fans who completely overpowered the few Knights’ fans who showed up to the game..
Going forward, there are many aspects of the Knight’s game that need to change if they hope to gain mid-season momentum.
“We need to play 32 minutes of defense,” said Conrad. “We also need someone who can help Wes out offensively.”
The Knights still have time to turn their season around; however, a tough Continental Conference will be relentless in that pursuit. The Knights next host Abington Saturday afternoon at 3:30pm in the Suburban One League Challenge.

Mike just proves my point, they need our support. Its not just a team effort, it’s a school wide effort. I think if they had more support the game reuslts would be much better.

Jewel is right. We need more fans. It’s a lot easier to get pumped in a game when we have a loud, full student section. Nicely written article

The team needs support from the students, we dont help make it any better when you go to a game and there is only 7 or 8 students in the student section. That just doesnt cut it.
