TOWAMENCIN- Only five girls in the history of North Penn Girls basketball have been able to accomplish the task of scoring 1,000 points in their high school career. On Wednesday night, senior Steph Knauer became the 6th.
Going into the game at Central Bucks West High School, Knauer needed 6 points to reach 1,000 and by the end of the night she surpassed that milestone.
“It feels awesome,” said Knauer. “Not many people do it but I am excited that I could be one of them.”
Knauer has been on the varsity team since freshman year and emerged as one of the top basketball players in the area this season.
Despite accomplishing such a rare feat, Knauer does not feel that scoring 1,000 was her biggest accomplishment of her basketball career.
“I would say no,” said Knauer when asked if she believed that this was her top moment playing for North Penn. “I mean, it’s exciting but I would say making it to states my sophomore year was more exciting.”
While many factors go into achieving this rare milestone, Knauer attributes two key reasons for her 1,000 points.
“Having such an early start and working so hard my entire career. I [also] could not have done it without my amazing team.”
After high school, Knauer has decided to take her talents to Shippensburg University where she will play for their basketball team.
With 1,000 points out of the way, Knauer and the rest of the girls’ basketball team now set their focus to an even more important task: winning the state title.
With a strong team and strong chemistry on the court, winning the state title has become a very realistic goal for the Maidens.

I love our girls basket ball players. They truly are some of the greatest, nicest girls i have ever met. They are all coachable, humble and most important not selfish.

It was such an awesome feeling to be there to be part of that. The crowd was there to back her up, it was great seeing the fan base and truely show their support.
