Following last year’s impressive journey that included a conference championship title, the Maiden’s swimming and diving team as well as its coaching staff are looking forward to another victorious season.
Q: What was your record and league finish from last year?
Coach Matt Weiser: Overall we were 11-0. Our league record was 7-0. We won our conference.
Q: What key players did you lose to graduation?
Coach Matt Weiser: We lost Jan Ikeda, Katie Patterson, and Mary Morris.
Q: Who are the key returning players?
Coach Matt Weiser: Seniors Brooke Else, Val Stearns, Anna Janoff, Erica Elias, Heather Paolone, Ashley Liss, and Charlee Branson. There’s also sophomore Tara Rogers and Eve Kosten.
Q: What are your expectations for this year?
Coach Matt Weiser: To continue what we’ve been doing, which is to compete for the league title again and to be in the mix for states. Also, we want to try to improve our state finish. Last year we got seventh so to improve on that would be great.
Senior Val Stearns: I think we will be very successful this year. As long as our team stays positive and keeps up the hard work at practice, we should be able to win leagues again and maybe even districts.
Q: Who will your toughest competition be?
Coach Matt Weiser: This year Upper Dublin will definitely be our toughest meet. After that, probably Emmaus and Souderton.
