TOWAMENCIN- A hat trick is impressive if you do it once in a season, but senior Curtis Washburn got his 2nd hat trick of the season against Hatboro Horsham leading the knights in a 3-1 victory on Tuesday afternoon.
Hatboro Horsham struck first with a goal early in the first half, but with communication and talent by the Knights they quickly capitalized on Hatboro’s defensive miscues.
“First goal I kinda just hit the ball and it rolled in, barely rolled in.” Senior Curtis Washburn said.
Wahburn’s first goal was only the beginning, later scoring on yet another Hatboro miscue. Washburn said the second score was lucky, but with the offense clicking and talking back and forth luck seemed to favor the well prepared team.
The second half seemed to be more stoppage of play then actual play. Two Hatboro players received yellow cards and at times seemed more focused on complaining than playing the game.
With time winding down the Hatboro offense started functioning like a well oiled machine but the Knights tenacious defense led by Senior goalie Dylan Eiger was able to hold off the Hatters.
Washburn put the final nail in the coffin for the Hatters playoff hopes when he scored his third goal with minutes left in the game.
“The goalie kinda missed the ball and it just rolled and I hit the ball in the net.” Washburn said.
This win knocks Hatboro Horsham out of playoff contention and put the Knights at 2nd place in the Conference, a good place to be with the upcoming playoffs. The Knights next game is this Thursday against a strong Holy Ghost prep squad.
“As long as we keep working, we will win” Washburn said.
