The North Penn Knight’s Varsity Soccer team has gotten off to a near perfect start going 7-1-2 to begin the season.
“We’re off to a really strong start. I’m pleased with the way we’re playing,” said Knights head coach Paul Duddy.
The Knights were working on an undefeated season until they played Central Bucks East last Tuesday. East would go on to end the dreams of finishing undefeated with a 2-1 victory over North Penn.
“We played the worst half of the season against CB East, [but] we will get it back together, try to correct some of the mistakes,” said Duddy.
The Knights have corrected those mistakes as they have yet to lose another game since that defeat. The Knights were at first worried how the team would respond to the loss of several senior coming into the year and were forced to rely heavily on the juniors and sophomores.
“In the beginning it was hard to get used to, but the underclassmen are filling the roles perfectly,” said senior goalkeeper Dylan Eiger.
The goals for the Knights remain short-term for the time being, but everyone, including coaches and players, are hoping to walk off with that state championship.
“Our goal is to win the league and definitely guarantee [ourselves] a playoff spot,” said Duddy.
“We just gotta keep winning and get all the way to states,” said Eiger.
