With six days of afternoon practice, three of those days double duty with morning practices, and tournaments on weekends, the North Peen Boy’s Water Polo team has been working hard this season to make the team better than ever.
“We have a lot going for us this year,” said senior team member Matt Mood. “We’re like a family, so I think that this team is stronger than it has been in previous years.”
Mood is right. At their game on Wednesday, North Penn beat LaSalle 10-8 in the last two minutes of the game.
“Originally, in the beginning, we had a really strong defense, but we kind of let go towards the end of the third quarter,” explained Mood.
Though it was a tight win, the team still had good spirits as they left the pool.
“We’re doing well in our league, and this game showed us that we just need to work even harder against some other teams, and to keep up the strength that we have in the beginning of a game till the very end.”
To bring spirit to the game, the Class of 2012, who were wearing their “Senior Knights” t-shirts, cheered on the players to victory.
“This is the largest crowd that water polo has ever had” said crowd member and girls water polo player Brooke Else.
The t-shirts, which can be purchased in room C-12 for seven dollars, are to be worn to one of the games on the back of the shirt each week so that students go out and support their classmates.
“The shirts bring school spirit to sports games that do not always have a large attendance” said senior class president Callie Rojewski.
Water Polo action continued this week as the girls’ and boys’ teams take to the water to host Upper Merion at the Rick Carrol Natatorium.
