Another social media fad leads a trail back to the most famous celebrity family

Dear Knights,

Guys want to date them, girls want to dress like them, and practically everyone wants to meet them. The Kardashian and Jenner Family is the most popular family in the media right now. From Kim and Kanye to Chris and his alleged gender transformation, this family is on the cover of most tabloids and the lead story for TMZ and E News. This fascinating family never gets a break from the spotlight and with the new “Kylie Jenner Challenge,” more publicity is coming their way. Many rumors have been spread about Kylie Jenner and how full her lips have become over the past few months. Teenagers are jealous of her lips and were inspired to achieve the “bottle lip” appearance without spending a dime.

This idea of DIY lip job has turned into something very dangerous. Teenagers would take a bottle or a cup and put their lips inside of it. After waiting a few minutes or until they thought their lips were ready, they would take the cup off and they’re lips would range from extremely fat and swollen to bruises with black and blue marks. After viewing the results they of course took a picture and posted it on social media with “#kyliejennerchallenge” as the caption. Some decided to take a video that ended up being extremely amusing because it showed their dumbfounded reactions.

There is no pity or sympathy for anyone who tried this challenge. The people are ridiculous for trying something so dangerous and now their consequence is that their lips look horrible. Their lips are also now over social media too for people to laugh at. If anything, I feel bad for Kylie Jenner who now has to deal with the press about this challenge that she never set up.

This is just another event in our society that makes me reflect on how self-conscious females are during their teenage years. Girls will do anything to look like a celebrity. It’s upsetting how uncomfortable teenagers are in their own skin. We have been taught that everyone is beautiful, unique and different, yet people will still harm themselves to mimic a celebrity. It doesn’t make sense. Don’t harm your own body to get those compliments from friends and family. Beauty does not come from sticking your lips into a cup, it comes from within.

Sincerely,

Siena
