Picture perfect Prom: Why all the time, money, and stress is worth it for that one special night
April 10, 2015
Dear Knights,
Senior prom is the most important night in our high school careers – from the girl’s perspective, at least. From finding the perfect prom dress to having the best promposal, prom is almost a bigger deal than graduation. Girls have been buying their prom dresses since September and have had a picture location secured since December. Now that ticket sales have begun, finding a prom date has become a fast and furious race. Then, once you get a date, it’s all about which table to sit at: the girl’s friends’ or the guy’s friends’? Whose friends should the couple take pictures with? Are you going to take a party bus or limo to prom? What are the plans after prom? Should the girl have a bouquet or a corsage? What color flower would look best to match the dress? After figuring out all of your plans for prom, you’ll be paying over $300 to have the best night of your life.
Prom night has always been a big deal, and even though North Penn doesn’t crown a prom king or queen, the students highly value it. Students who have never been to a school dance before in their lives end up buying a ticket to prom. Senior prom brings everyone out of the woodwork, and even though senior prom is a month away, students are planning and worrying about all the small details now. Many group chats and lunch conversations all revolve around prom.
But it’s all worth it. The stress, the money, the time, and everything involved in prom is all worth it for that one night. It’s a preview to your wedding day with the dress, the date, and the fancy venue and food. It’s a magical few hours, and when you’re there experiencing everything, you forget that you spent $400 on your dress, $100 on your hair, makeup, and nails, and $60 on the party bus, and you forget about all the stress that went into it. You only get one senior prom, and everyone wants it to be a perfect night.
Sincerely,
Siena
