Transformed from tiny Lancaster County Normal School in 1855 to PA’s first state normal teaching school in 1859, Millersville University of Pennsylvania has grown to become a well respected academic institution. Earning a place in U.S. News & World Report’s top 10 public universities in the North, this university combines a rich history with a promising future for its past, present, and prospective students.
Their motto “Seize the Opportunity” accurately describes its atmosphere. This university is one of 14 universities within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. Located three miles from Lancaster City, it is renowned for its beautiful 250 acre campus. Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center at Millersville University is another new facility, officially opening on Friday, October 12, 2012. Construction began on a new library in the summer of 2011 and is expected to be completed during the summer of 2013.
The student population of upwards of 7,000 undergraduate students has many possible ‘opportunities to seize’ in achieving academic success. Containing 55 undergraduate majors and six schools including an Honors College, Millersville offers various majors from science and mathematics, to education, and humanities and social sciences.
