LANSDALE – With mounting budget constraints facing North Penn School District, the School Board found it necessary to substitute traditional sources of revenue with other options to ensure the School District continued its legacy of educational excellence.
Forming the Alternative Revenue Committee, the School Board outlined its goals through the mission statement: “It is the Alternative Revenue Committee’s mission to identify new revenue source options, make recommendations to the School Board on the alternative revenue streams, and communicate to the community the financial situation faced by the District and the recommended revenue options in order to ensure that the core mission of delivering a quality education for all students is protected.”
Although looking to expand its member base, the Committee currently consists of appointed community members Chairperson Josie Charnock and Vice Chairperson Howard Reid.
Meeting the second Wednesday of each month in the E.S.C., the Committee will collaborate on ideas to improve the current financial situation.
“The committee was created to generate ideas and provide these revenue generating ideas to the School Board based on the research gathered by the committee members. The members are looking at how other school districts have approached these financial challenges and will determine if these ideas will benefit our district as well,” says Charnock.
Information regarding the plans and progress of the Alternative Revenue Committee can be accessed through the Coordinating Council, Home and School meetings, the North Penn School District’s E-Newsletter, The Reporter, and other such sources.
“The committee intends to reach out to the community to share information and gather feedback … We welcome any and all ideas. To find out more about the committee or to get more involved, contact Christine Liberaski at [email protected],” says Charncock.
