LANSDALE – The Penndale Middle School community once again collected goods for the Hospitality Center in Norristown, a non-profit organization that acts as a day shelter for men, women and children in Montgomery County.
The students and staff of Penndale Middle School are known for their generosity toward others. Due to the overwhelming amount of donations last holiday season, the school’s HABIT team decided to once again help the individuals and families in need in the North Penn community. The staff members of Penndale held a collection from November 7th to 17th that included such items as breakfast foods, paper goods, toiletry items, socks and drinks. The response was overwhelming and resulted in 27 bags full of items that will make this holiday season a little easier for those in need during a tough economic time.
The Hospitality Center was created from true and simple love for people. It is a home during the day for anyone who otherwise would be left hungry, weary or living on the streets. The shelter’s day center works diligently at preventing repeat cases of homelessness by offering living skills and educational courses through funding local donations and grants. It also offers counseling services, a referral service, a living skills program, job counseling and assistance, shower facilities, clothing, personal hygiene items and other needed services.
Due to poor economic conditions, The Hospitality Center is busier than ever serving the area homeless and offering food baskets to less fortunate families. The Penndale Middle School HABIT team thought this would again be a fantastic opportunity to help meet a very strong need for people in the local area at a time when their need is so large.
