LANSDALE – The North Penn School District is thrilled to announce that North Penn High School teacher Mike Voicheck has recently been recognized as the Pennsylvania High School Teacher of the Year by the Technology & Engineering Education Association of Pennsylvania (TEEAP).
This teaching excellence award is one of the highest honors given to technology and engineering education classroom teachers and is presented in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the profession and their students. Candidates for this award must be characterized as providing technology and engineering education instruction of high quality, student-centered and relevant to a study of technology and engineering at the secondary level. The teacher must be a current TEEAP member and have held membership for the preceding year in both TEEAP and the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA).
During Voicheck’s nine years as a teacher at North Penn High School, he has taught a variety of courses with the utmost excellence. He currently teaches Electronics, Mechanical Drawing and Power Technology and is also the teacher and advisor for the North Penn Engineering Academy. In addition to his responsibilities as a teacher and advisor at the high school, he also runs a North Penn Community Education robotics summer camp for middle school students and is an involved member of TEEAP. Voicheck is not only enthusiastic about being a teacher, but he values educating himself and sharing what he learns with others. He is a North Penn High School graduate, completed his degree at Virginia Tech and is currently completing his Doctorate.
Voicheck was nominated by NPHS Technology Education department chair William Michael with the support of NPHS principal Burt Hynes.
