LANSDALE – The North Penn Marching Knights traveled to James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, Virginia on Saturday, October 22nd to participate in the university’s 34th Annual Parade of Champions marching band competition.
The Marching Knights, the only high school marching band representing the state of Pennsylvania, were invited to compete at this major show along with 48 other high schools from the Mid-Atlantic region.
The Knights performed their show, High Flight – Hope, Dream, Fly, featuring original marching band music. The Marching Knights competed against 12 other AAA class schools taking first place with a score of 90.85. The Knights were also awarded all caption awards for Music, Percussion, Color Guard and Overall Presentation.
The North Penn Marching Knights were also recognized as the Grand Champion for receiving the highest overall score of all participants at the JMU Parade of Champions event.
The band’s future schedule includes attending shows at Abington High School, the Pennsylvania State Championship at West Chester University and the USSBA National Championship at Annapolis, MD.
Don’t miss seeing the Marching Knights perform their show at Community Knight on Tuesday, November 15th, at North Penn High School’s Crawford Stadium, located at 1340 Valley Forge Road in Lansdale, and again at Lansdale’s Mardi Parade on Saturday, November 19th.
