“I love North Penn. It’s a different world from Madrid. It’s so big and everyone is so nice,” says Clara Alvarez de Toledo, this year’s Spanish exchange student.
Although it’s only been one marking period, Clara is already enjoying her time at North Penn High School. She says one of her favorite things is moving to a different class room every period and getting to meet so many students.
America is just what she imagined it would be. She says between the football games, the cheerleaders and the school experience it’s, “just like in the movies”.
Clara’s favorite North Penn experience so far was Powerpuff and she is really looking forward to prom in the spring.
Clara is very active at school. She is involved in German Club, Key Club, Cross Country and possibly Softball in the spring. At her school in Spain there are not has many sport’s team for girls to join so she really likes all the options North Penn has to offer.
She says the biggest challenge so far is the language barrier, but by now she is getting use to it and says she is learning a lot. She is excited to see what the rest of the year has in store for her.
