We can’t deny the fact that almost every girl had a Disney princess phrase . From buying the princess gowns and props to absolutely having to comply with each and every detail just to idolize them. The desirable traits like big colored eyes, perfect body and naturally silky hair has left an immense psychological effect within young women to be exactly like them. Their insecurities are shaped by unrealistic beauty standards set by the illusion of characters.
I mean Cinderella was literally picked up not because she has a good heart, not because she is peaceful, but because the prince fell in love with her “beauty”.
The prince didn’t even bother to talk to the step sisters and immediately know that they weren’t his type?
The story of “sleeping beauty” revolves around how the prince picked her for how she looks. She is loved because she is beautiful, with long wavy hair, fair complexion and slender figure.
Snow white was “fairest of them all” and was never killed by the huntsman because of her “bright” colored eyes and tremendous beauty. Now it leads to the question : are people who are tanned considered ‘below average’ in terms of beauty?
In Disney, beauty always correlates with how good the person is, while someone ‘ugly’ or ‘lower’ than average is portrayed as an ‘evil’. The one being ‘ugly’ and ‘wicked’ is always hated.
This blatant association has left young girls to link qualities of the princesses with how they look.
