LANSDALE – No longer “top secret” plans for a possible North Penn annex of the Souderton School District fell into the hands of a Knight Crier reporter last week when a group chat somehow included intrepid KC reporter Gianna Ciccone.
While the annex of SASD appears to be on hold for now, the cat is out of the bag thanks to what appears to be a careless mistake in the hurried creation of the group chat among high level administrators. Although when pressed about this embarrassing snafu, one administrator downplayed the ordeal.
“Gianna is a low level reporter at the failing Knight Crier. She continually perpetuates hoaxes like the “bees, bees, bees,” from back in September, and the whole crowded hallways fabrication. She’ll say anything to get clicks on that sorry excuse for a news website,” a NP administrator said when confronted about the group chat.
It is possible that Ciccone’s inclusion in the group chat may have never come to light, except that she was caught using her cell phone in math class, and when she was called to the office, she had to defend herself, and thus the story broke.
“So, I got the notification that I was in a group chat, and in my mind I’m like ‘new phone, who dis,” but something told me I better just sit back here and see what’s being discussed. So… I did. Looks like I got a whole lot more than just detentions for using my phone in class!” Ciccone explained.
This week’s school board meeting is expected to be packed with residents who will demand answers to how such a thing could happen.
“To think we were that close to finally annexing Lower Salford and all of its wonderful people! I’ve been encouraging this for years, and now careless people in possession of power are keeping us from that extra tax revenue, golf courses, and their new turf baseball field. Unacceptable! Someone needs to be held accountable,” said Fathers for Independence spokesperson Al Beback.
Of course since this story broke, Souderton Area officials are not happy. It’s too soon to tell if there will be retaliatory measures, but some indication is that this information leak could prove costly.
“We’ve always had our eye on that General Nash… always thought he’d be a good addition to the SASD. We may just go take him!” an anonymous Souderton admin posted on the Facebook page, “Citizens for the Revitalization of the Awkward Area Between Telford, Harleysville, and Souderton.”
As for Ciccone, and what else she knows, she’s not talking.
“Oh yeah, let me tell you. I have some other info from that group chat too. I’m not going to say anything specific, but I’ll just leave you with two words… “Freddy Hill!”
