There’s only one King in America: Elvis Presley

“Long Live the King.” A phrase that the founding fathers never wanted the American people to hear again. Recently, the White House’s official Instagram posted an illustration and quote that portrays President Donald Trump as the “King Of America”. Not only is this blatantly un-American, but it is also untrue. There is only one king in America: Elvis Presley.

This post came with a quote in the caption by Donald Trump himself, “CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!” This sent shivers down the spines of Americans as this was an in-your-face example of a monarchy that has not been seen before.

Now, we have seen one king in America, but he did not promise gold cards or have relations with Putin, but had a shaky left leg and redefined the music industry. Elvis Presley. Elivs left a positive impact on most people’s lives and never felt the need to pick and choose what press would cover him as Trump does.

Speaking of, the US Constitution contradicts both of the claims Trump has made. In Article 1, Section 9, clause 8, the document states, “No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”

Also, the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt recently stated that “The White House press team in this administration will determine who gets to enjoy the very privileged and limited access in spaces such as Air Force One and the Oval Office”. Once again, this is contradicted by the Constitution.

The First Amendment to the Constitution states this as it says, “Congress shall make no law… prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press”. Elvis never publicly contradicted the Constitution… just saying.

Elvis has actually won 3 Grammys and was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at just 36 years old. I’d like to see Trump’s Grammys. Elvis has clearly earned the title of “King”, just ask anyone over 50.

In all seriousness, there are no kings in America, and there never will be, so don’t get on your knee for one now. This is the basis of our existence as Americans. We’ve escaped a power-hungry greedy dictator and we can do it again if need be. We just have to realize that the power of the people will always trump the greed of an Oligarchy. …Elvis has left the building.
