Esther’s high school survival tips
High school can be tough sometimes and dealing with a large amount of work can be difficult to manage. There are various ways to manage your school work and social life without feeling stressed out. Planning ahead, maintaining time management, and studying hard can help one earn good grades and feel more at ease in high school.
Here are some of my high school survival tips:
Avoid Procrastination
Don’t postpone what can be done today. Putting off assignments can add up to an
overwhelming workload. When an essay is assigned, it’s important to get a head start and avoid waiting until the night before the due date to start. Teachers can easily see how much work and thought was put into an assignment and give a grade that was deserved. Doing work while under pressure can make you feel nervous and rushed. When you panic and stress about work in a short amount of time, it could lead up to not doing the assignments at all. In addition, procrastination tends to make you feel unmotivated to do any work at all. Prepare, plan and don’t cram.
Start Planning
For planning life after school, it’s important to choose a course that best fits your interests. It’s important to stay on top of grades while also planning to expand your knowledge and experience such as through other exams required later. Evaluate educational options and stay on track with classes to maintain a good grade point average.
Chose the Right Courses
Talk to teachers and guidance counselors to guide you into selecting the most beneficial courses for your future. Explore and challenge yourself in other courses. To make the most out of an opportunity, take notes, be more productive, and maintain balance.
Don’t Strive for Perfection
Know your limits and try your best. A relentless drive for perfection can cause more stress for students and dissatisfaction even if the goal is achieved. A perfectionist can
lead to obsessing over little problems like waking up five minutes after your alarm. Striving to do your best instead of being perfect can lead to an ease with work and an enjoyment of completing tasks.
