New carnival opens this weekend at Montgomery Mall

Carnival Season! Montgomery Mall is host to a first time carnival beginning this Friday night, May 26.

Looking for something to do in the final weeks before summer lets out? Well, the first annual Montgomery Mall Carnival might be something to give a try, benefiting the North Penn School District Educational Fund.

The fair spans this whole week with Sunday May 28 being the last day to go. The fair can be found, as the name suggests, at the Montgomery Mall in the J.C. Penney side lot. While the carnival doesn’t boast the same level of attractions and local flair as the other community fairs do, it’s still worth giving a shot if you’re into the more classic carnival activities.

For Melvin Ford, a manager at the Montgomery Mall, this fair comes as an attempt to get the community more involved in the Montgomery Mall, which has continually struggled over the years along with many other malls across the country. With the emergence of e-commerce the past few years especially, Malls have to diversify their purposes and become more than just brick and mortar locations.

“The inspiration for this fair is to, you know, kind of bring the community back together, bring the community out. Let them know that Montgomery mall is still in existence. We want to show we’re here for the North Wales community”, says Ford

“This is the beginning of events that we’ll be having here at the mall. Every holiday we intend to have some type of event”.

Ford says that this is the first edition of this carnival in hopefully many years to come.
