NPSD students to display musical talents in honors ensembles

LANSDALE – North Penn School District music students have been selected to perform in honors ensembles at the 2023 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Conference in Pocono Manor, PA and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Eastern Division Conference in Rochester, NY. Nearly 200 students from elementary, middle, and high schools in the North Penn School District will be performing at the conferences.

The 2023 PMEA Conference will be held April 19-22, 2023 at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Pocono Manor, PA. Performing will be the NPHS Wind Ensemble directed by Joseph Santanello, the NPHS Troubadours directed by Matthew Klenk, The North Penn Middle Schools Sinfonia directed by Ralph Jackson, Krista Feliciani, and Erica Milbourne, and the Bridle Path and Montgomery Select Strings directed by Ralph Jackson.

The NAfME Eastern Division Conference will be held April 13-16, 2023 at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center in Rochester, NY. Performing will be the Pennbrook Orchestra directed by David Pimentel and the NPHS Navy Jazz band directed by David DiValentino. David Orehowsky, director of the Pennfield Middle School band, will be presenting a session at the conference titled “Jazz Rehearsal Techniques for the Creative Director”. 

“Performing at the PMEA and NAfME conferences is a huge honor for the North Penn School District ensembles and the educators who work hard every day to bring music to our schools,” said Joseph Santanello, Director of Bands at North Penn High School. “I am so excited to share the talents of our incredible musicians with educators, administrators, and students from around the state.”

PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians.
