LANSDALE – The North Penn Board of School Directors has announced they have reached a decision on the next superintendent of The North Penn School District, and the name is a familiar one.

Current Assistant Superintendent, and former North Penn High School principal, Dr. Todd Bauer will be the district’s next leader, following the retirement of Dr. Curt Dietrich, who will close out his career with North Penn on June 30th.

“Dr. Bauer has spent the last seven years devoted to the mission of the North Penn School District, its students, staff and community,” Tina Stoll, NPSD Board President said. “From high school principal to assistant superintendent to now superintendent, his time helping to lead us before and after a pandemic has been transformational. We know he will take North Penn to remarkable new heights.”

According to the NPSD Office of Communications, the appointment will be made official at a public meeting once a contract is negotiated and the final steps in the hiring process are completed. His 100-day entry plan includes garnering stakeholder feedback to gain varied insights on the North Penn experience, developing a new three-year Comprehensive Plan, prioritizing staffing in all areas of the organization, beginning to build community engagement for the NPHS renovation project, and enhancing key partnerships.

“I am truly honored to be selected as the next superintendent of the North Penn School District. It is my pledge to this community that I will continue to work tirelessly to elevate NPSD to new heights as we prepare our students for success in and out of the classroom,” Bauer said. “I want to thank the Board of School Directors for their trust in choosing me and for the support I have received over the years from students, staff and community members.”

Bauer became the principal of North Penn High School in 2015, following the retirement of longtime North Penn teacher and administrator, Burt Hynes. In 2018, Bauer was appointed as assistant superintendent, and Pete Nicholson became North Penn High School’s next  principal.

“As a board we reviewed and considered more than 25 applicants and interviewed six exceptional candidates including Dr. Bauer,” said Stoll. “Todd’s vision for the future of NPSD, expertise, proven record and existing relationships made him the clear choice for the position, and the board is proud of the process that got us to this point.”
