NPHS Dems get out the vote
These North Penn students are more than just aware – they’re actively participating in local politics.
LANSDALE – Last Sunday, North Penn High School’s Young Democrats Club spent the day volunteering for local candidates Tom Wolf (governor), Bob Casey (US Senate), Maria Collett (PA State Senate), Scott Wallace (US House of Representatives), and Steve Malagari (PA House of Representatives). Members knocked on doors, handed out flyers, and called registered Democrats with the intention of strengthening voter turnout for the midterm elections.
“We went in groups of two to different areas around Hatfield; we got to talk to voters about who they are voting for and why,” explained Young Democrats co-president Rachel Rubins.
She added, “Even though [some of us] can’t vote yet, we can’t wait for our voices to be heard. We are so lucky to live in a democracy that lets people of any age have a say in the government.”
