Bengali Club poses with their trophy after their win.

TOWAMENCIN- German Club, French Club, S.A.L.S.A. Club, International Friendship Club, Japanese Language Club, Korean Club, and Bengali Club took the field on Tuesday, October 23rd after school for North Penn’s 8th annual World Cup Soccer Tournament. The annual tournament is a chance for the culture and language clubs to get together for friendly competition and lots of fun.

German Club adviser Andrew Baker works to organize the tournament, and loves that this is an annual tradition at North Penn.

“I love the atmosphere of the day! Even the students who don’t win a single game have a lot of fun and it gives a chance for people who aren’t athletes to have fun in an athletic event either as players, supporters, or band members,” shared Baker.

The tournament consists of nine games to determine two teams to play in the final. This year, reigning champion Salsa Club played Bengali Club for the championship. Salsa club was disqualified due to an issue with their roster, handing Bengali Club the trophy.

“Bengali Club has never won before. We’re starting a legacy,” commented a proud member of Bengali Club.
