TOWAMENCIN- On Monday night, athletes from fall sports teams gathered to be recognized for their efforts representing North Penn during the 2017 fall season. The teams in attendance included Boys and Girls Cross Country, the Boys and Girls Water Polo teams, Girls Tennis, Girls Volleyball, and the Golf team. Coaches used this celebration of North Penn athletic achievement to congratulate the teams and name the MVPs.
The ceremony began with a recapping of the success of the teams with a total of four league championships and two state championships coming from the water polo teams. Athletic director Bill Bartle also took time to speak about the importance that athletics has in the academic endeavors of many students.
“One thing that we always try to make sure our athletes understand is athletics is a means to an education,” explained Bartle. “The bottom line is athletics, number one, teaches many skills, but number two, it is a way for individuals to move on once they graduate high school and continue participating in athletics but also use as a tool for an education.”
Following the speech by Bartle, coaches awarded their Most Valuable Player awards for their seasons.
