Meet your SGA candidates
TOWAMENCIN- After much campaign preparation, nine students from North Penn High School are in the running for positions in the Student Government Association (SGA). Running for the position of President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, or Corresponding Secretary, the nine sophomores and juniors have been campaigning the election through word of mouth, wristbands, posters, social media posts, and more.
On Tuesday, April 25th, the SGA candidates will have the opportunity to give their campaign speeches on NPTV. The student body will tune into and listen to the campaign speeches during ninth period, and polls for voting will open immediately after the speeches are given.
Candidates for President
Grade: 11
Why are you running for SGA?
“I am running for president because I feel I am the most prepared candidate to assume the position. After years of experience, training, and hard work, I am confident that I can make a positive impact as president next year.”
What is the first thing you’ll do for North Penn when you become an officer?
“The first thing I would change is the atmosphere at North Penn. I want everyone to have a say in what goes on so that we can all be excited for upcoming events or spirit days. With me as president, information will be easy to access, and I will have a ‘suggestions box’ for people to suggest ideas or improvements.”
Why should people vote for you?
“People should vote for me because I have proved over the past few years that SGA is one of my passions. I am ready to invest my time in SGA so that everyone can enjoy the wonderful events SGA holds. You can trust that I will work hard to make sure next year is your best year at North Penn yet.”
Grade: 11
Why are you running for SGA?
“Older peers sparked my interest back in middle school, and I’ve enjoyed working with bright friends and new people ever since. Together with our communal efforts we pull off great events at school and I’m proud to be a part of the SGA community, and want to join again for my senior year.”
What is the first thing you’ll do for North Penn when you become an officer?
“For North Penn, I want to dedicate my efforts to promises that can be kept, so the first thing I’d like to do as an officer is personally thank my supporters of my campaign and listen to the criticism that people have this year, in order to prepare for 2017-2018.”
Why should people vote for you?
“If they believe in a genuine and motivated campaign, I’m the right guy that is solely working to benefit the people.”
Candidates for Vice President
Grade: 11
Why are you running for SGA?
“I am running for SGA because I love to help the student body. Since middle school, I’ve been an active member of student government and have grown to enjoy everything about SGA: from fundraising, to the events, and even to just getting to know the student body.”
What is the first thing you’ll do for North Penn when you become an officer?
“When I become Vice President the first thing I would do is to expand the voice of the student body. For certain events at school, like spirit days, I believe that the vote should go directly to the student body and not to the representatives. This would increase school participation and morale to bring a better aura to our school.”
Why should people vote for you?
“People should vote for me because I want to represent a typical student here at North Penn. I understand many concerns, as I am involved in many different and diverse clubs. I listen to the students voices, and will take appropriate action to satisfy the student body. I also have experience. I served as Vice President at my middle school, and I served as an SGA cabinet and Senate member, as well as attending leadership camps. I have the qualifications and experience for this job, and I will not disappoint the student body.”
Grade: 11
Why are you running for SGA?
“I’m running for SGA because I was previously involved in SGA as both a Senate member and the SGA historian, and I’d love to continue working with other leaders who continue to push me to lead at my best, and continue to lead with passion.”
What is the first thing you’ll do for North Penn when you become an officer?
“Because SGA holds static events throughout the course of the year, I will ensure that each SGA event and meeting will be carried out smoothly. I will also be readily available to listen to the input of all the students to fit the needs and wants of all the students.”
Why should people vote for you?
“I believe that people should vote for me because I have over six years of SGA experience, holding positions ranging from a representative to vice president, and feel I am most adequately equipped to serve the student body and ensure that the SGA always has a responsible, reliable, and dedicated vice president ready to work.”
Grade: 10
Why are you running for SGA?
“I am running for SGA because I want to help better the many school events and because I appreciate the school.”
What is the first thing you’ll do for North Penn when you become an officer?
“I will help plan the Powder Puffs, and meet old SGA members and get ideas from them. Also, I will cooperate with the President of SGA, and help with new ideas!”
Why should people vote for you?
“I will bring more fun experiences to the school year, and I am dedicated, and detailed with planning certain events.”

“I am always willing to listen to the opinions of others, and I am an A student in math.”
Grade: 10
Why are you running for SGA?
“I have been involved in student council for nearly seven years and enjoy being involved in student council related activities. Being treasurer would provide the next step in providing the opportunity to help others and create new programs thought out by the students themselves.”
What is the first thing you’ll do for North Penn when you become an officer?
“After I pay off someone to count the money, I will look to see how we can get more [money] and how we can use it to provide new experiences for all students. All jokes set aside, I want to use the treasurer position to gain knowledge and give back to North Penn.”
Why should people vote for you?
“I feel as though I have the experience provided to be the best treasurer possible. I currently am the student representative on the North Penn Education Foundation which deals with money to provide grants for students. With this, I know I can manage the money and use student ideas to start new things.”
Candidates for Recording Secretary
Grade: 10
Why are you running for SGA?
“I have already been a member of SGA last year and wish to further my commitment to this school by running for secretary. I thought this would be a good decision because I am qualified for this position and represent the student body.”
What is the first thing you’ll do for North Penn when you become an officer?
“The first thing I’ll do if I become an officer is make sure that everything is in order and well organized so that North Penn can work efficiently.”

Candidates for Corresponding Secretary

My experience includes being involved with student council since 5th grade, attending 3 leadership camps and many region and state leadership conferences.
