TOWAMENCIN- Three thousand students, one thousand seniors, and one homecoming queen. In a school as large as North Penn High School, how does one choose? Should the homecoming queen be a talented athlete? Or should she be a hard-working community member? Should she be someone who is involved in many school clubs? Or should she be someone who has the ultimate goal of brightening other students’ days? This year the students at NPHS chose a homecoming queen who embodies all of the mentioned characteristics and more: Victoria Braeunle.

“I like to get involved in the school, because it’s how I make a lot of friends, and I’m very outgoing, so I like to talk to a lot of people.” said Braeunle,

Participating in a wide range of school activities, including Future Business Leaders of America, Future Health Occupations Club, Youth Education Association, Key Club, Best Buddies, Athletes Helping Athletes, Link Crew, and Class Cabinet, Braeunle illustrates her passion for school involvement. For Braeunle, participating in school activities means meeting new people and making new friends. Activities such as Best Buddies, YEA, and Athletes Helping Athletes are important to her because she likes working with kids to help them feel like they are included.

“I like to help them feel like they are part of a team like I am,” explained Braeunle.

Her involvement in these clubs is also important to her, since it is helping her achieve her career goal of becoming a nurse, which is no surprise considering Braeunle is always willing to help others.

Proving to be another significant aspect of Braeunle’s life, sports have been embedded into her daily routine. She has participated in Girls Soccer and Winter Track, and she is currently the captain of the Girls Lacrosse Team.

“Sports are basically my life,” said Braeunle. “They keep me occupied, and I meet so many new friends. They keep me happy and healthy, and I love being part of a team. That’s my favorite part.”

Braeunle explained that being nominated for Homecoming was an honor, and she was amazed that her peers chose to nominate her. As Braeunle was standing on the field on Friday, September 23rd waiting for the results, she was thinking of all the support she was given from her family, friends, and teammates, as well as the other court members whom she became good friends with throughout the whole process.

“It felt great,” stated Braeunle. “It was such an honor to me, since I think of it as my friends picking me as one out of one thousand kids. It is my favorite memory from North Penn so far.”

She loved seeing her friends cheer her on from the stands and how happy everyone was for her when she won.

“When everyone’s happy, I’m happy,” said Braeunle.

Looking ahead, Braeunle believes that having won will help her meet new people and help others see that she is a friendly, outgoing person, who is always eager to help others so they can enjoy school as much as she does. She believes that she can be an inspiration to students who are not as outgoing as her by providing them with some advice.

“[Students] should not be afraid to talk to people, because that’s how you make friends, and the more friends you have, the happier you will be,” stated Braeunle.
