Meet the 2016 Candidates for Homecoming Queen
TOWAMENCIN – When the North Penn Knights take to Crawford Stadium on Friday night, there will be more than just a football team that walks away with a win. It is homecoming 2016 at NPHS, and with that of course comes the pageantry of the halftime crowing of this year’s Homecoming King and Queen. The halftime ceremony will cap off a week of spirit days, pregame partying, and homecoming voting. Here are this year’s candidates for Queen:
Victoria Braeunle
What activities are you involved in at North Penn?
“I’m involved in Girls’ Soccer and Winter Track, and I am the captain of the Girls’ Lacrosse Team. I am also in FBLA, Future Health Occupations Club, Youth Education Association, Key Club, Best Buddies, and Athletes Helping Athletes.”
What does being in the Homecoming Court mean to you?
“Homecoming means a lot to me, especially since the school is so big. Just to be chosen in the top seven is an honor, and it’s really cool, because your friends nominated you. It’s a great experience, and it’s really fun. I would also like to give a shout out to my mom, my siblings, and my friends for their support.”

“I am a quadruplet.”
Sam Carangi
What activities are you involved in at North Penn?
“I’m involved in Girls’ Basketball at the high school.”
What does being in the Homecoming Court mean to you?
“It means a lot; I wasn’t really expecting it, and it’s nice to know I got voted on.”

“I’m allergic to horses.”
Mikeala Vlasic
What activities are you involved in at North Penn?
“I’m in National Honors Society, Track and Field, and Cross Country.”
What does being in the Homecoming Court mean to you?
“It is really cool, because it is such a big high school, and to be recognized is really nice.”

“My uncle played professional football.”
Elizabeth Yi
What activities are you involved in at North Penn?
“I’m really involved in my church, where I sing for the choir and teach Korean. I also work with kids with autism and learning disabilities.”
What does being in the Homecoming Court mean to you?
“I thought about this right when I got on court, and I was kind of like why did people vote for me or what do the people who are on court exhibit for North Penn? And I think the answer is it just shows how diverse North Penn is. Because one person can have an impact on a lot of people without being popular or cool and just being involved so people know you is a tribute to how diverse our school can be and how far you can reach out to other people.”
Interesting Fact-
“I have five other siblings; I am the oldest of six. I recently went to Korea this summer; that was the first time I’ve been out of the country and to Korea.”
Amber Sexton
What activities are you involved in at North Penn?
“In 10th grade, I was a manager for the North Penn Hockey Team. I enjoy going to football games when I am feeling up to it.”
What does being in the Homecoming Court mean to you?
“It means a lot to me. I am so thankful to have so many great friends at North Penn who have been supporting me while I wait for my heart transplant. I couldn’t make it through this without all of them.”
Interesting Fact-
“I have a machine inserted into my heart that pumps the blood to my body. This machine keeps me alive, and I am very thankful for it.”
Noelle Horrell
What activities are you involved in at North Penn?
“My most prominent activity is chorus; I am the chorus president this year, [and] last year I was the junior secretary and treasurer. I am also in the women’s choir and chamber singers’ groups, along with career study with Mr. Klenk. I also am in the Marching Band; I play the cymbals. It’s really fun. And Thespians!”
What does being in the Homecoming Court mean to you?
“I feel like there’s like half [of the] people that are expected to make it, then half [of the] people that weren’t that are aren’t underdogs, but the people that aren’t hot, popular. I feel like I’m part of that crew, representing a different side of North Penn. I feel like it’s a diverse group, this year’s homecoming court, and I’m proud to represent that side of things.”

Kayla Harnett
What activities are you involved in at North Penn?
“I am currently a choral secretary for Mr. Klenk, and I’m part of women’s choir and chamber’s choir. I am a Thespian for Troop 5464, and I was in three productions for North Penn.”
What does being in the Homecoming Court mean to you?
“I think it’s amazing, because it means a lot to me that a lot of people voted for me, because I didn’t really put it out there so people really cared, which means a lot. I am just glad that I can represent North Penn on court with such a great group of people.”
Interesting Fact-
“I’m very political; I’m pretty sure everyone knows that, but I’m a very big believer in expressing your beliefs and fighting for what’s right, social justice, and going out and voting. I can’t vote because I’m 17. R.I.P.!”
