Cyber Monday is one of the most popular non-holiday days in the year besides Black Friday. This year, Cyber Monday made record breaking sales. Shoppers spent a total of over $3 billion this year on Cyber Monday. This holiday, only created in 2005, supports how people prefer to shop online than in stores on Black Friday. This year, Target, Best Buy, and Amazon had the best deals.

2. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Celebrates Birth of Daughter With Pledge to Give Away 99% of Shares
After the birth of his daughter, Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, announced that he plans to give away 99 percent of his Facebook shares away to fund a charitable initiative. This would amount to over $45 billion to “join people across the world to advance human potential and promote equality for all children in the next generation.”

3. San Bernardino Shooting: At Least 14 People Killed
On December 2nd a deadly shooting took place in San Bernardino, California resulted in at least 14 people dead and 17 others injured. Two suspects were found dead after they opened fired on a holiday gathering for county employees. The reason for this attack has not been confirmed yet.

4. Citing Urgency, World Leaders Converge on France for Climate Talks
World leaders met at the COP21 conference Paris this week to talk about climate change. Two of the world’s largest greenhouse polluters, the United States and China, attended this meeting where they created a plan to further help solving climate change, but this plan does not mean a solution. Since their pledges are in, we expect to see major climate adjustments to help save the environment.

5. Thousands of Holiday Lights Flick on as Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Is Lit
As everyone is getting into the holiday spirit, so is Rockefeller Center in New York City. The 83rd annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony took place Wednesday night. There were ten different performances during the evening, including Sting, Pentatonix, and the Rockettes. The tree will stay lit until January 7, 2016.
