The North Penn School District is excited to announce that North Penn High School art teacher and department chair Joanne Harris has been selected as a 2012 Voices of Inspiration Award for Teaching Excellence finalist. This honor is awarded to educators in Montgomery County who go above and beyond the call of duty.
Recipients of this award were selected based on the individual’s contributions or performance during the 2011-2012 school year, or for cumulative efforts over many years, and clearly demonstrates an extraordinary dedication to teaching young people while exhibiting the qualities that represent a truly exceptional educator. Nominations were submitted by students, parents, co-workers, administrators and school district employees.
Harris will receive $100 from Freedom Credit Union and is in the running to be one of three Voices of Inspiration Award winners to receive the grand prize of $500. On May 9, Harris and NPSD Curriculum Supervisor Kim Bast will attend the 6th Annual Voices of Inspiration Awards Banquet at the Philadelphia Marriott West in Conshohocken, PA. This evening is dedicated to recognizing and honoring Harris and the 22 other award recipients from Montgomery County for their accomplishments as excellent educators.

I’m so glad to hear about this! I wouldn’t have known otherwise because Mrs. Harris is so modest. She does everything possible for her art classes and and is certainly a voice of inspiration to me and every other one of her students. She deserves this award 100%!!
