Why did you want to get involved with Mock Convention? The convention is presenting a great forum for students to discuss their political knowledge and learn more. I am so excited to be a part of it.

What are you most excited about? The great guest speakers!

Why are you interested in politics? I will be able to vote in the next election, and I want to make sure that I am an educated voter.

Why is it important that students understand politics? Like myself, so many seniors attending the convention will have the opportunity to vote in the next election. Students need to be politically aware–our right to vote for our President is one of the most important rights we have.

About the Candidate:

Current Position: Member of the United States House of Representatives

Background information: Michele Bachmann is 55 years old, originally from Iowa. Bachmann served in the Minnesota State Senate, and was the first female Republican to represent the state in Congress. Bachmann gained national attention as a supporter of the Tea Party movement.

Major campaign points: Restore the economy and create new jobs, Repeal Obamacare, Cut spending to reduce American debt, Restore family values, Rebuild America’s image

Why students should vote for your candidate: Many news outlets have presented Congresswoman Michele Bachmann as a political outlier, but in truth, many of her ideas are grounded in popular Republican ideals. Congresswoman Bachmann would be a strong choice for the first female president–bringing a new twist to traditional American principles.
