TOWAMENCIN – After being debated for many weeks before the community, construction for a dome to be built over Crawford Stadium has finally been approved. After receiving a lucrative sponsorship from Chipotle, the new dome will be referred to as Chipotle Dome at Crawford Stadium.
“I think it’s great. At first we were a little bit unsure about how everything would work out. We didn’t know exactly how the community would react, especially in the midst of budget cuts. Fortunately the community showed full support, and the boosters did a phenomenal job organizing everything with Chipotle,” said Michael Liddy, 12th Knight President.
Inside the Chipotle Dome will come an advanced synthetic turf whose quality components yield consistent playability and superior durability for football with a resilient rubber ShockPad.
“Football is a rough sport, and FieldTurf has made tremendous strides in improving the safety of its surfaces without compromising quality. Partnering with the Knights has given us much positive community feedback and we felt as if we owed it to our players to give them the best available. Data has been formulated proving the safety FieldTurf provides, and the reduction of serious injuries when playing (and falling) on the surface,” commented Chipotle general manager Cliff Paul.
“Since we do so many Chipotle nights where NP organizations make 50% of our sales, we decided to just pull of the proverbial fundraising band-aid and just give a ton of money all in one shot. Let’s face it – we’re packed over there every night anyway, so it’s time to really give back!” added Paul.
With a new dome stadium at the top of the budget, the committee decided to add extra features as well, including home and visiting locker-room. Teams will no longer need to make the mile long walk from the stadium to the locker rooms located in the high school.
“I can’t wait, first of all, the lockers we have now are so small that we can barely fit all of our equipment and everything. We are so tightly squeezed together that there’s barely any room to leave for the imagination. So I’m definitely pumped for the new spaced out locker rooms. I’m also excited for the new turf I feel like it will really enhance our game to the next level. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to call the stadium the swamp anymore so we’ll be in search of a new nickname,” said Nyfease West.
Chipotle Dome will be equipped with a new athletic training room facility, press box, box seats for family, teachers and boosters, a jumbo screen, new LED scoreboard, snack stands run by Knights Knutrition located in numerous locations throughout the stadium and many more features. Crawford stadium is scheduled to be torn down June 19th to allow the senior class one last graduation inside the stadium. The Chipotle Dome will be constructed and ready for use by the start of the 2014-2015 football season.
