Cookie corner comes back bigger and “batter” than before

TOWAMENCIN- After much protest, a staple of North Penn High School is making a triumphant resurgence; the Cookie Corner is making a comeback.
Following the First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” movement, the original Cookie Corner cookies were taken off of the district menu, and replaced with more healthy whole wheat cookies. However, after intense debate by parents at School Board Meetings, the cookies of old are returning to retake their position as the darling of North Penn cuisine.
“The Cookie Corner’s cookies were one of the reasons I enrolled my son in NPSD to begin with,” said Karen Maven, a concerned mother of a North Penn student. “How else could I be sure that my child is receiving a truly balanced diet? The cookies gave my child the essential vitamins and minerals he needed to survive the grueling grind of everyday. Now that they are gone, I have noticed a drastic decline in his motivation!”
Surprisingly, research has given this theory some clout; according to a recent poll, 98% of parents report that their children have suffered a rather steep regression in class work since the removal of the Cookie Corner. After the results came out, a swath of angry North Penn parents ventured to the School Board Meeting to make their voices heard.
“How could you remove the cookies from the menu? I have now put three kids through the district, and never before had there been any talk about removing the cookies before,” said Fran Taylor, addressing the School Board. “Now all the sudden, the ‘no cookie’ movement comes from nowhere and strikes the last year I had to get my kids to buy some for me, and I’m left without any more cookies. Cruelty!”
In a shocking unanimous decision, the School Board has repealed its tough stance on the delicious cookies, and is actually planning on bringing them back bigger, badder, and better then ever.
“You see, student psychology studies have also shown that bigger, undercooked cookies bring a stronger presence of positive mind stimulus,” said Hurton Bynes, a Psych teacher at North Penn. “The move should be mutually beneficial for the minds and bodies of students. Bigger cookies means more nutrients, and more nutrients is a good thing!”
In fact, the cookies will be roughly three and a half times the size they were before, and instead of being baked at 400 degrees for thirty minutes, they will be baked at 200 degrees for twenty minutes. As far as the ingredients themselves, the recipe will remain the same — with the exception of the sugar, which goes from 1 cup per dozen to 3 cups per half-dozen.
Students have been eager to once again taste the ever-enticing M&M cookie that has been a staple of their childhood for so long. With the passing of the new policy, they will only have to wait a little while longer; the Cookie Corner will officially reopen next to the Sushi line on June 12th, and there have been rumors about the possibility of the incoming K-Pod Starbucks selling Cookie Corner cookies as well.
