Alumni Spotlight: Phoebe Clowser continues athletics at Illinois State
North Penn’s Cross Country and Track and Field teams will surely be missing Phoebe Clowser this year, a class of 2016 graduate who is continuing her athletic career at Illinois State. Clowser has gone to states all 4 years of her athletic career, and last year was on a 4×8 team that competed at nationals. After being observed by several collegiate athletic programs, she decided Illinois State was the perfect place to continue her passion.
“I was offered many unofficial and official trips to colleges that were interested in me, but Illinois State felt like home, and I loved the coach, team and whole aspect of running collegiately.” said Clowser.
Favorite part about college- “My favorite part about the college life is being a part of the athletics. It’s so much fun getting to know the other athletes and being able to go out and support each and everyone of them. Being independent is also really awesome, until you have to actually do your own laundry.”
What do you miss most about North Penn?- “The thing I miss most about North Penn would have to be seeing my friends and the atmosphere North Penn had. It’s so difficult explaining Lansdale to people, or telling people how easy it was to just get wawa after practice in order to make it in time to the football games, basketball games, water polo games, and swim meets.”
Advice for high schoolers- “One piece of advice I would give high schoolers is to always listen, trust and communicate with your coaches, teachers, or mentors. I think that was something that really helped me succeed, not only in track and cross country, but in school as well. No matter what is thrown your way, it’s always helpful to go to someone that you look up to.”
