Week 7 was a bad week for backs. With injuries across the NFL to running backs like Darren McFadden, Beanie Wells, Tim Hightower, and Cedric Benson with a one game suspension it is a good week to pick up some 2nd string talent.
Bernard Scott RB (CIN) – Ced Ben is only out for one week due to suspension for violating the rules of the lock out so don’t look for Scott to be a long term answer but for week 8 he could be a good pick up. Coming off the bye and going up against an average Seahawks run defense look for Scott to get a good number of carries and a few passes thrown his way.
Ryan Torain RB (WSH) – Torain has flirted with being the starting man for a couple of games now but with Tim Hightower out for the season with an ACL tear Torain flirts no more. Torain hasn’t preformed that well despite a good week against St. Louis but that is partially due to his 2nd string position, look for him to get a lot more touches this week and possibly have a big game.
Alfonso Smith RB (ARI) – Beanie Wells is only expected to be out for about 2 weeks so Smith is not a long term solution but a good fill in for an ailing line up. Smith had one touchdown last week and has been used in goal line situations by the Cardinals. Don’t expect too much from Smith against a strong Baltimore defense but if you need to plug a leak on your roster he could get you a few points.
