Ride Along is an modern interpretation of technology in the way it re does everything that has already been one just with a minor change. Ice Cube plays a protective older brother trying to make sure his younger sister does not marry the wrong guy. He is upset by her current boyfriend Ben Barber ,played by Kevin Heart, and will only give him his blessing to marry his baby sister if he goes on a ride along with him. Ice Cube, who plays James Peyton, is a stubborn cop intent on going things his way, and no other. So when he gets the chance to take Ben with him to work, he takes advantage of his nice naive behavior. Taking him on fake calls and making him do all the grunt work all cops try and avoid, but what James didn’t plan was for Ben to actually be one of the biggest assets in his big drug dealing case.
This movie has good modern comedy that even a teenage audience can understand, and the entire cast plays their parts perfectly, but the only flaw was its very predictable plot line. Without missing a beat this movie plays into every action movie stereotype. From backwards cops to shoot outs, it had it all and anyone who has seen a action movie before could have seen it coming. In my opinion, Ice Cube should have stuck to music and Kevin Heart to stand up instead of degrading themselves with this movie.
