Bruno Mars can cross off yet another major accomplishment off his bucket list. The Grammy and newly VMA winner has confirmed that he will be performing at the 2014 Super Bowl Halftime show.
It’s still early in football season but the Super Bowl scored big time. After days of speculation, the “Grenade” songster tweeted his good news: “WE’RE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!!! #PepsiSBHalftime”
Not only will Mars be the entertainment for the night, but he will also make history because he will be the youngest artist to perform at the Halftime show. Sharing the stage with him will be his eight-piece band, The Hooligans. The 27-year-old will join the long list of legendary stars that have performed at the Super Bowl. The list includes Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Rolling Stones, U2, Paul McCartney and, of course, Beyonce.
While being interviewed by Fox News, all Bruno Mars had to say was “It’s just an honor.” The National Football League released the news five months before the big game intending to hype up the fans. His video is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkICVBRMnGo
Aside from the Halftime show, Mars has two very successful albums. Doo-Wops & Hooligans is a 60x platinum album and Mars’ current album Unorthodox Jukebox has sold over four million copies.
The Grammy award winner is set to perform at Super Bowl XLVIII on February 02, 2014 at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
