“There are 188 million 911 calls a year. This one made it personal.”
Jordan Turner believes she is such an experienced 911 operator that she can handle any situation- until now. After her faulty reactions turn a girl’s abduction into a murder, Jordan is sent into a guilt stricken spiral. She finally comes back to work not knowing that she will have to face the same killer in another child abduction call. Jordan will have to face her fear of failure and break her own advice of keeping personal feelings out of a call to save the girl’s life.
Over all, The Call is a well acted suspense movie that has a lot of predictable horror scenes with some surprise endings. Halle Berry stars in the film and Abigail Breslin’s portrayal of the brave victim is an inspiring highlight in the rather sinister plot. If you love suspenseful and slightly gory ‘thriller’ movies, than go see The Call, but don’t be surprised when the ending is less than satisfactory. The creepy, yet surprising story line leads up to a presumably exciting end, but the ending is pretty disappointing. But all in all The Call has some on the edge of your seat moments to parts where you just want to cry.
I give The Call a 3 out of 5. The only reason not to wait until The Call comes out on DVD to watch it is the ambiance of the theater that makes the movie creepier than on the small screen, but if you can wait for Redbox, that would be the smartest way to go.
