Tucked in a tiny corner of the Weis plaza, right across the street from Calvary Baptist and North Penn High School, is possibly one of the best sit-down Chinese restaurants in the Lansdale area. Although Abacus can be an order in and takeout place, the ambiance is definitley worth the trip. Once you walk in, you will notice Abacus is covered with mirrors on the walls, royal red carpet, and the most enchanting element- a huge fish tank in the middle of the restaurant. The comfy booths and tables give an open feel, but since the place isn’t usually packed it is quiet and personal. Every table is equipped with hot tea and fried noodles with duck sauce and mustard sauce.
The family owned restaurant keeps up a dutiful staff so service is always fast and pleasant, but when it comes to their food, Abacus is unsurpassed in freshness. Every lover of Chinese food has at one time or another consumed Chinese food dripping in peanut oil, but Abacus has the freshest food and vegetables. Abacus has great classic Chinese food like sweet and sour chicken, moo shu pork, and sesame chicken. The menu contains a lot of spicy warnings, but there are also plenty of dishes that are mild.
Some of the greatest things about Abacus are the beginnings and endings. Appetizers from spring rolls to fantastic dumplings; great traditional soups like egg drop and wonton to their Chinese pizza that is made of flour, scallions, ginger and garlic sauce any choice is a tasty one. But the thing that really separates Abacus from other Chinese restaurants are their chocolate covered fortune cookies, which are always chilled and yummy. Their fortune cookies are the best way to end a meal. Any food you choose to eat at Abacus will be fresh, appetizing, and inexpensive.
